What is Dulcolax used for?
Dulcolax is used for the relief of constipation. Under medical supervision Dulcolax can be used for the evacuation of the bowel before a radiological examination or as an enema alternative. Dulcolax works by acting on the lining of the lower bowel to stimulate movement. This movement produces soft formed stools.

Is it appropriate to use Dulcolax every day?
Long term use of Dulcolax is not recommended. Dulcolax is recommended for the short-term treatment of constipation. If symptoms persist seek medical advice.

Can Dulcolax be taken during pregnancy?
As for other medicines, ask for your Doctor's advice if you are pregnant, or likely to become pregnant during your course of Dulcolax. Special care is recommended during pregnancy. The benefits of Dulcolax must be assessed against possible effects on your child and you should ask your doctors advice.

Can Dulcolax be taken if breast-feeding?
Taking Dulcolax when breast feeding is not recommended. As for other medicines ask for your Doctor's advice if you are breast-feeding or likely to breast-feed during your course of Dulcolax.

Can Dulcolax be taken by children?
Use of Dulcolax in children should only be under medical advice. Check with your Doctor or pharmacist to determine if Dulcolax is suitable for your child.

Can I take more than the recommended dose of Dulcolax?
It is not recommended to increase the dose of Dulcolax. If your doctor or pharmacist has changed the recommended dose you should ask for further information from your doctor or pharmacist.

What should I do if I have taken too much Dulcolax?
Seek medical advice if you have taken more than the recommended or prescribed dose. Advice can be provided by a doctor, pharmacist or Poisons Information Centre (13 11 26). Signs of overdose may include diarrhoea and abdominal cramps as well as other medical problems caused by a loss of salts and water from your body.

How should I store Dulcolax?
Dulcolax Tablets, Suppositories and SP Drops, should be kept in a cool dry place where the temperature stays below 25°C. Do not store in direct sunlight or heat. For example do not leave Dulcolax in the car on hot days. Store Dulcolax in a safe place where children cannot reach it.
